Select Small Black & White 2020

From an early age I have been fascinated by the power of black and white. For these works I devised a technique to cause a natural symmetry of motion for the paint particles. Not unlike a murmuration in nature, all the lines or dots are aware of each other and their movements organically in concert together. This is then paired with the balance between light and dark for which there is no word in English. The Japanese refer to this interaction as notan, meaning the balance between light and dark.
